iBone - the Pocket Trombone
iBone is a multimedia app developed by Spoonjack LLC. It is the winner of the 'Best Musical Instrument App' in the Best App Ever Awards and an iTunes Rewind pick. iBone is not just a tool for trombonists, but anyone can play and learn how to play the trombone using this app.
With iBone, you can practice and learn scales and songs on the go. You can even play along with music from your iPod library, either accompanying the lead or taking the solo spot. The app provides an easy-to-use interface where you touch or blow to make a sound, slide your finger to change pitch, and raise and lower the bell to change volume.
iBone covers the trombone's standard two and a half octave range, allowing you to slide up and down and easily play out of tune. If you're new to the trombone, you can pick a tune from the iBone Songbook and play along with the band accompaniment. The app comes with seven free songs, and additional songs can be purchased and downloaded.
